Frosty and the Fans One of the highlights of this year was our snowman, "Frosty". For some odd reason Garrett Mooberry started bringing this large plastic snowman to our games. Some of the cheerleaders weren't big fans of the snowman at first. (Becca and I loved him!) The squad let Garrett bring the snowman to the games, and Frosty ended up being great for school spirit. It is very important to let your fans have fun at the games. Sometimes the things that you don't expect to encourage the fans really make a difference. Garrett and his family took the snowman to every basketball game we had. They even had to buy it a ticket at Ottawa/ Marquette in order to get it into the game. After Frosty's first few games, the local TV stations started airing him during sports highlights. Frosty always showed up in our pictures. Many times we didn't realise he was in the picture until we got our pictures developed. The fans tried to fit Frosty into a cheerleading uniform, but it didn't quite work. It was great to know that Frosty was always there. For our spirit week posters, the sophomore class (Garrett's class) featured Frosty on their wall. Frosty helped the team celebrate all of their accomplishments. Our principal and teachers did not know what to think of the snowman at first and became quite concerned when the fans decided to crowd surf Frosty. By the end of our season, Frosty was as much a part of PCS as any of our basketball players. He had to be included in our post-season team photos. After we won our super-sectional game our athletic director had each player cut a piece off the net to keep. When it was our manager's turn to cut his piece, he let Frosty help. The Civic Center allowed us to bring Frosty to our State games, and he really got the crowd pumped. Everybody in the area was looking forward to seeing Frosty and our fans. Frosty got quite a bit of publicity for our school and basketball team. He even had an article written about him in the newspaper. Even after our season was over, Frosty was still hanging out with the team. Frosty was officially honored at our end of the season celebration. He is likely to retire to the trophy case.
