Senior Night Pictures

Every year for senior night, we put posters up for each senior athlete in front of the gym. Usually most schools just use a basketball and a megaphone. My mother and I wanted to do something different. We decided to make posters that looked like the uniforms. They looked amazing when we were finished!

We borrowed a basketball jersey from one of our basketball players. (Basketball jerseys are always very big, so try to get a smaller one).

We laid the jersey on our posterboard and traced around it. The jersey will be longer than the posterboard, so just trace what you can.

Make sure you don't get pencil on the jersey. This uniform is not yours.

Once it is traced, you can cut out your uniform shape. (we used our paper cutter to make the straight edges straighter.)

Some things are too small to trace, so we photocopied our "PC" logo to use as a pattern.

We made a pattern of the collar our of cardstock.

We copied our "PC" a second time so we could cut it out and use it.

We used a permanent opaque yellow marker to go over the "PC". This brand works the best because it dries like a craft paint and will cover over dark lines.

The black lines don't show through.

We had a lot of white edges on our uniform. We lightly ran a black marker around all of them.

I found a font like the one on the uniform and printed each number out on yellow cardstock in purple ink.

We weren't satisfied with the shade of purple on the number we printed out. We used our purple permapaque marker to go over the purple.

The numbers looked so much better when they had the marker on them. (The only thing about this markers you might not like, is that they aren't very shiny when they dry.)

The next thing we had to do was copy the yellow stripes on the side of the uniform.

Before we could put on the yellow stripes, we had to color the side in purple.

We cut yellow stripes out of cardstock, using our paper cutter.

We laid out our stripes and adjusted them until we had enough space between them.

We lined the stripes up to the inner edge of the purple, then we trimmed the extra off the end.

While the stripes were drying, we turned it over and put bricks on them, so that they would dry flat.

We wanted to include all the little details of the uniform, and we noticed this company patch.

I photocopied the patch onto cardstock and cut it down to the same size as the original.

Then we glued it to the poster.

We wanted the letters on the front to really stand out so we made them out of 2 layers of cardstock. We had a larger layer in yellow and smaller layer in purple. We couldn't find any purple cardboard so we had to use our marker to make purple letters.

There's white trim on the sleeves and we wanted to include that on the poster.

With the light black outline these looked very nice.

I printed out an action shot of our senior basketball player.

I printed out our Senior's name and the year and we used a varsity font, which matched our jersey's numbers.

Remember to put something heavy on your poster, while it is drying, so that it will dry flat.

The finished poster is wonderful, and something our senior can keep to remember this year. (It's a good idea to laminate this poster so that it will last longer)
