T Shirt Surgery

One of the easiest ways to customize your T-shirts is to make a few cuts. By cutting off the sleeves or shortening the shirt, you can make your T-shirts go from boring to exciting. To buy a sleeveless shirt, you'd have to spend a lot more on each T-shirt. If you're outside for camp, the short sleeves will really help you stay cool.

We started by using one of our new designs. This soft 50/50 cotton/polyester shirt costs only $9.99.

We cut our sleeves down to 1/2 an inch. We made sure to stay even with the seam. When you trim so close to the seam, it will keep the T-shirt from ripping or stretching out.

Stretch the fabric a couple times and the edge of the sleeve will roll up.

The bigger your shirt is, the larger the arm holes will be. This shirt is a medium so the arm holes are a little bigger. (If you're wearing a sports bra, it will look okay)

The bottom of the T-shirt is pretty boring and not very flattering. Most T-Shirts are made for men. This makes them wide in the shoulder and thin around the hips. T-shirt surgery makes these shirts look better on a girl's shape. You can buy your t-shirt to fit in the shoulders and cut off the bottom where it is tight through the hips.

We wanted to add a rounded bottom to the shirt. We used a large round pan to make our line.

We used a thick sharpie so the line would show up in the picture. We recommend that you use something lighter that will wash out. (You can buy fabric marking pencils/markers that will work.) We cut inside the line so that it wouldn't show.

We stretched the fabric to make it roll. If you hem the bottom or serge it, the shirt will have a longer lifespan. (We have cut off shirts that have lasted a long time. If you pull on the shirt hard enough it could rip.) The cut of this shirt is very flattering for your stomach. It fits loose around the hips and is very slenderizing.

We have this design on an un-altered T shirt in our Cheer Store!
